Eastern Rice

The fruit, nuts, and seasonings can be varied.

Ingredients

¼ cup butter

1 cup long grain rice

¼ cup slivered almonds

2 teaspoons onion, chopped

¼ teaspoon ground allspice

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup raisins

½ cup water

10¾ ounces chicken broth

Directions

Sauté the rice and almonds in the butter.

Stir in the remaining ingredients.

Cover and simmer 20 minutes without stirring.
